Tracked Platform going straight.

I have tracked vehicle that consists of two windshield motors, each·operated by a HB25, controlled via the BS2p.·I'd like·recommendations for·an expensive way to have the vehicle go straight; combination of sensors and programming. Presently, I don't have encoders. I'd·like to the vehicle to move in a straight line when commanded; either forward or reverse.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Brian

    A EXPENSIVE way! Way cool.

I would use a liquid cooled (hydrogen), chemical fueled, tracking/defensive laser system. I would tie that into a Flux capacitor assisted, gravitational unit.

Now, vaporize any thing in the way AND, IF the track is not straight, turn on Flux cap. grav. unit and bend time/space to make a straight line.

Me? I'd use a compass or a cheap helicopter gyro. Boring.

The tracks always slip. You gota' do something.

p.s. Send photos if you used the first idea.

Keeping things a bit more practical (sorry CCraig), the best solution is to use encoders.· You can make your own... it isn't very hard.

Encoders are great, but the tracks *do* slip so that limits the usefulness of the encoders. Compass or compass+gyro is probably a good way to go.
