Hey all,
This week Parallax exhibited at the Sensors Expo in Chicago at the Rosemont Convention Center.
Concurrent with Sensors Expo was the Robots and Vision Show. Though this show was primarily for industrial manufacturing robots, there was a Chinese company called Xi'an Superman showing off their android. This thing looked like a wax figure until you saw it move. Besides having real features defined by facial hair, latex skin, eyeballs and a proportional body, it also had its "body double" human clone nearby.·The motion control was nothing·unique as far as I could tell, but it had pretty good object tracking capabilities that brought it alive. It was nearly a bit creepy to tell you the truth, but in a different way than the EFX-TEK Linda Blair demos. This one looked too realistic.
The company's web site is http://www.xsm.cn/xsmEn/about_jj.asp.
I posted a short·video of this·robot at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krnjOeBtcrA.·The·guys on the left in the video are myself and Matt Miller, a friend from·Greater Area Chicago Sensors Group.
