Servo problem

I have got a problem with my servo's. I use an external power supply with 4 AA batteries to supply my servo's with power. The signal-pin is attached to pin4. The servo's worked when·I attached them to the VDD & VSS of my breadboard.

If I attach them with the external power supply, The servo's sometimes drive slower or faster. The amount of Volt's is the same, but when the servo's are lagging, the·ampere is increasing from 0,180 A to 0,400 A.

Does anyone know how I can solve this problem ?

Thanks for the help !

ervie, do you have a common ground between your 4AA battery pack and the Javelin board? The servos still need a common ground to operate properly.

I'm working on the same project as ervie, we made the following circuit:
    6V(-) 6V(+) pin4
     | | |
     | | +-- white
     | +------------- red
     +------------------------ black

Do we have to connect the 6V ground to the board ground?

Yes, the power source for the servos must be common to the Vss on the Javelin Board. Without that the signals don't have a common point of reference for level. Take care.
