Blue Bell Design?

Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience with Blue Bell Design?

I ordered and paid for by PayPal one of their Co-Processors to go with my BOE yesterday.

Since I placed the order I have yet to receive any email as to the status of my order.

I have sent at least two unanswered emails to their email address asking when my order will ship.

Regards,
TCIII

I do. The guy who operates the place is Harry Lewis and he's even written some code for us in our Toddler text.

He should be responsive. If you send him a link to this thread I bet he'd improve his customer service.

    Hi Ken,

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

Maybe he is just on vacation or out on a job?

    Hi Tom,

Thank you·for the order and sending the link to this thread. I got the email with the thread and the Paypal one with the order·but not any other emails requesting status about the order. Your kit is in stock and should ship early next week.

I have another new customer from your general area who tried to send me emails and they didn't go through either. My emails·to him also didn't go through - I finally resorted to·my hotmail account to get through to him. My only theory is that your spam checker won't let you send to "spammers". While I don't do it, my email address is on the web·and some spammers use it as a reply address. I often get email back saying some of their stuff is undeliverable.

    Sorry for·the difficulty.

    Best regards,

    Harry

I have recently ordered several items from Blue Bell and have not had any communication problems.· In fact, Harry has been most responsive and has even added some extra service elements to my order that he really did not need to and that I most appreciative of.· Can't wait to receive my order!roll.gif

Tom C: Harry lives a few blocks away from me and we get together from time to time to talk about robots and stuff... He is a great guy and his co-processor is awesome! Very well designed and engineered! You'll love it!

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

Harry has been very responsive. I think that there was just an email problem that got quickly ironed out.

    Hi all,

I received my Blue Bell Design Co-processor the other day and was very impressed with the quality of the kit.

The kit went together just fine and I am now in the process of mating the Co-processor with my BOE/BS2e.

I would definitely recommend the Blue Bell Design Co-processor to anyone interested in having a multifunctional board to work with their MCU.

    Grievousfish and Tom C.

I would be interested to hear how the co-processor works once you have a chance to use it. I have read Blue-Bell's info on their website, but have heard no comments on direct experience using the co-processor with a Boe-bot or other Stamp robot. Sounds like a great idea in theory.

    Hi Wade Smith,

I tested the Blue Bell Design Co-processor with a BS2/BOE mounted on a Mattrack·robot chassis built by T0m.

The Co-processor performed as expected and is all that Harry Lewis has advertised it to be.

I checked out the IR and bumper sensors first and they worked fine. The Co-processor continually updated the status of the sensors through the BS2.

I then initialized the Co-processor for robot operation and then let the robot roam around my dininging room. It avoided all of the objects that could be seen by the IR sensors and contacted with the front bumper.

I plan to add a Parallax PING))) sensor to improve sensing objects farther away than the IR sensors can detect.

I plan to build the capabilities of the robot up a step at at time.

I will definitely buy another Co-processor from Blue Bell Designs to help control a 6WD Rover that I am in the first stages of building.

Two tumbs up to Harry Lewis and Blue Bell Design.

    Regards,
    TCIII

    Hi, Tom C -

I,too, am working on a Mattracks 'bot... I totally agree about the quality of Harry's kit and his responsiveness.

I 'd like to learn more about the code you're using and what you're end application might be.

Feel free to contact me offline, or keep this thread going.

    All for now...

TomC: I have two of Harry's co-processor kits and find them great with the BS2P40 chip. We e-mail each other periodically to discuss what projects we are working on, He is a great guy and goes out of his way to help you out. I would be interested in how you get on with your ping as I have also built a bot with pan/tilt ping and three GP2D12 IR sensors but would like to know a bit more about programming them. Harry has helped in this area but it's nice to know how other ppl go about getting the devices to work.
Below is a link to my website with the co-processor in my bot.
