Parallax Wiki

Has anyone at Parallax ever considered building their own wiki?· I used to really enjoy building maps for Half Life 2 using their delivered map building tool, and a well done website (hl2world.com)·has a forum such yours, but they also have a wiki that people put tutorials, faqs and the like.

Its example is: http://www.hl2world.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Much of your subject matter such as encoders, using relays, etc you already have in either old forum threads or N&V articles.· The nice thing about the Wiki is that others can contribute articles, or amend existing ones to add examples.

When I started mapping with HL2, I can't tell you how much more helpful the wiki was than the forums in terms of searching for a specific topic.· There were whole subject matters that I was able to print out (4-5) pages to read while I was stuck in a doctor's waiting room.

People could even put finished projects as wiki's, product guides, you name it.

I'm not sure, but I assume that the wiki software is available if hl2world.com is using it.

We're not likely to create our own wiki at this point, while wiki's are for the most part self moderated, they still need some moderation oversight and our plate is pretty full with the forums.

Paul I agree, but community moderation is a strong thing. I think it is especially needed for the Propeller. There is so much user generated content, it is perfect for a wiki. It would increase the overall documentation for the technologies. I understand the overhead issues, but I think it would be of great benefit. We run Confluence at work and since it has been installed we have never looked back. Sharing information in a way that is easily accessible and organized is a powerful thing.

That's exactly my point.· Its a huge help for getting solutions.· Using the forum is very nice, but searching it is dreadful, forcing duplicaiton of posts.
