First Hydra Case! (NES, Lego)

Oh, look! It's a NES made out of LEGO!

UPDATE: More images at MichaelZinn.de

I plan to make a homepage where you will find more images and maybe instructions how to build it yourself. It isn't hard to build a case out of Lego, it's just hard to make it look good. wink.gif

Here's what you can see in the images:

Front: Well, the front?
verbunden: connected
Rueckseite: back side
offen: open (top removed)
zerlegt: all three parts next to each other (top, Hydra, box)

LOL! Very good! I've been looking round for something suitable for a case for the Hydra. But I have no Lego. It occurs to me that it's just larger than a CD case, so perhaps some sort of CD case would do the job. Or, if anyone comes across a broken Mac Mini case, that'd be good.

Heh, that Lego factory seems interesting. But I doubt that they would sell something that looks like a Nintendo product.

Well, I could disassemble the case and build a multi-headed monster sitting in is lair out of it and call it "Hydra in it's NESt".

Yes, forget making it look like a NES, try an make a new really slick looking case with some transparent pieces etc. then once you have really good design, you could make a parts list, and then show how to build it layer by layer, so others can make them. LEGO cases are defintiely a cool idea.

    Hey people!

There is no constructions plans yet (though I really plan to make some), but for those of you, who want a bit of inspiration you can visit my brand new web site to view over 3 MiB of oversized photos (including new never seen before making of footage!). The web site has no design as of yet, but the content is there at least:

You should make a kit that comes with all the legos to make the case OR try and make a mold based on the case, clamshell design, maybe make 50 of them. I would sell them on my XGamestation site.

Yes, make a lego kit. If you are not ready for that, make a parts list and sell that first. :)

I have been looking for a case and that looks good enough for me to keep the cats off.

    I'm really considering that.
However, my old Lego bricks are in the basement of my parents house, so I can't just build a case right now. My plans are, to first create the construction plans for the current not yet perfect case, then build a new NES-like case from scratch and then design an original HYDRA case, which might then be available from LEGO factory.
Before I'll start to build that last case I might open a poll with some sketches of what would be possible.

Michael, I posted the case on a couple sites (I think I did?). Anyway, my google spider found this:

Pretty cool, a little PR for you!

Oh, cool! I should visit this forum more often...
    Well, here's a little update:
    - I'm currently very busy so it will be a while until I'll have time to make the construction plans :-/
    - However, you can see more detailed images of the construction on my new (totally in its early stage) website at michaelzinn.de/joomla (If you go check the applet: It hase a loading time of about 1 minute)
