Heavy Duty Servo Motor Question

I am an artist and I am designing a project that shakes a 3ft x 4ft thin sheet of aluminum hanging vertically. It is the same stuff furnace ducts are made of. I was thinking of using a heavy duty servo motor to do this. Does anyone know of a good source to get such a motor that can be controlled by the basic stamp? I will need to run it forward and backward at a variable speed (fast and slow).

Thanks!

Shake or move? If what you really need to do is shake (to make a noise for instance) you could use an excentric shaft on a motor. If you need to move the sheet to a point and stop then a servo or a gearmotor with an encoder would be more appropriate.

Yeah.. I want to shake. Excentric shaft on a motor? I will check it out. What type of motor should i look for?

Any dc motor should do depending on the size and vigor you want the shaking. An ecentric cam on the shaft is more likely to be found. the same principal as those vibrators in pagers (and other consumer products nudge, nudge, wink, wink)

Yes, and the ones in "Vibrators" (for massage use) probably have a heavier weight.
