LCD Issues

I have the Parallax 2x16 Serial LCD. I set it up on the breadboard, and it worked. I soldered it to my circuit board, and only the cursor is displayed. I think it is getting power, but the RX signal is messed up. I've tripled checked every connection...

Does the single cursor mean anything in particular?

Thanks!

You need to tie the chips ground to the rest of the grounds andyou should either use VDD or VIN but not both. (I think)

    Hello,

Is the LCD Backlit? If so you’ve definitely exceeded the current you can draw from the BS1 on-board regulator. If not, you’re probably still pretty close. Also there must be an error in your schematic as the LCD and BS1 never get connected to the battery negative terminal, yet your LCD is at least partially coming on.

Yes, the schematics have an error. I actually did connect the BS1 to ground. The LCD is the backlit type, but the backlight does not turn on. This setup worked perfectly on the breadboard...

And here is the new, correct version of the schematics.

    Thanks!!

Hmm... this problem is really weird. It is still only displaying the single cursor. I tried removing the GND from the LCD, and when I powered the BS1's ground only (only RX and +5V were hooked up to the LCD), the same cursor came on. Now I'm really baffled. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

EDIT: I completely rewired it... and fixed :)
