Nichia and a Shift Register

Since I was running low on pins, I decided to see if I could "PWM" a shift register the same way I "PWMed" on the Propeller.· Hooked up a 595 ahead of the ULN2003 and with 3 Stamp pins I am now controlling two Nichias - that is 6 LEDs.· Colors are great with no flicker - cyan, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, magenta and white.· And I am using 10 percent less code than with the PWM program.· Next thing - add another daisy-chained 595 and see if I can drive 4 Nichias - 12 LEDs - with the same three Stamp pins.· If I can get it working, I calculate the other two Nichias will only add about 26 bytes·to the program.· We'll see.

If you haven't tried the Nichia RGB chips yet you should.· They are a lot of fun.
