Forum Subscriptions?

Hi guys,

I hate to waste other people's time... particularly the wonderful people that answer questions here on the forum.
So, I try not to ask a question until I have exhausted my options. I find the forum so interesting that I've been slowly going over the old posts... there is a wealth of information.
But... it also takes a lot of time... and then when I get to a point, where some of the discussions I've read are now germaine to
my own experience... by golly, it sometimes takes forever to figure out where I read it.

I've gotten in the habit of saving threads to my hard-drive, when I see something that is obviously important. Then I can search the folder by "contents."

I think it would be extremely useful if we could have the option to subscribe to the forum... and get a CD every couple of months.

Anyone else interested?

If enough people responded ... Parallax could figure out if it makes business sense to do it.

Rich

I have my Yahoo groups emailed to me and filtered into their folder which is so much easier to read and search then web access. For some reason however I find that I have not enabled email subscription for the Propeller forum (which I notice are still classed experimental). Now this is the crux of the problem I think you are getting at rjo is how do you entice the server to email all the old messages as well.

Does anyone know how or maybe we could just import someones Propeller subscription email file?

I could whip up a Ruby script that will spider over the forums and download everything automatically. But that would use a LOT of bandwidth.

Another way to search content is to use the google search and add the term in the box

    inurl:f=25

This will only return results where the url contains the term f=25, and that is included for all propeller forum threads.

Apart from the off line access possibility I don't see that is is a particularly useful thing to have, certainly not as a monthly item.

If you find especially useful threads then let me know and I can add them to the thread index but its worth remembering that cataloging, saving and printing are no substitute for reading and doing even though it is strangely satisfying !
