Hello all. I am trying to find a PCB program. I love CADSOFT's eagle, but I need a bigger board size, I have talked to cadsoft. and they cant help me with out spending at least $1200 for the size I need. I have tryed target 3001, and I think it is to hard to use. there has to be a PCB CAD program that is made just for the hobbiest.

thanks TC

P.S. Just for the person that tryes to crack eagle 4.11, or 4.16 with a KEYGEN to get a bigger size board. You can not load a .BRD file or a .SCH file on another eagle program. Best off not to waist your time.

Pretty much your only option for unrestricted and free layout software is open source: http://www.rdrop.com/~cary/mirror/tools_htmlized.html#PCB
Of course with all open source projects your mileage may vary.

    TC,

Express PCB makes bigger boards…The only downside is you have to get them through Express PCB. No Gerber files. Take care.

DipTrace (www.diptrace.com/) is not free, but reasonable. They have a non-profit license available.

I have used it to make PCBs from Gerber files and it seems much friendlier than EAGLE.

I am looking for a program that can do a board size of 13" X 1", 2-layers, & about 100 pins.·I am giving "diptrace" a shot. any size board up to 250 pins non-profit, & output to Greber. I think it wood fit the bill. but I am still looking, I dont mind paying a reasonable price, but paying $399 just so i can get a bigger board, little over kill

    thanks TC

Like Chris said www.expresspcb.com will make them for you and their layout software is not hard to use and is free but you have to have them make the boards. I calculated two boards second day air with no silkscreen but plated through holes for $84.06. Or you could get four boards with silkscreen soldermask and plated holes for $179
