Using Grabber and Ping with Ping Bracket together

Has anyone mounted a Grabber together with·a Ping with the Bracket on a BoeBot?· Obviously the Ping Bracket cannot be mounted in the location given in the instruction since the Grabber is taking up that space.

My goal is to locate and retrieve a small object, such as a soda can,·placed in a random location.

I mounted both items on the Beo Bot. I turned the ping bracket around 180Deg then mounted it up higher with some spaces. I will in the nexxt few days place a picture for you

    Zaphod,

If that method does not work for you - depending upon your application - you could always just skip the Ping))) bracket and mount the sensor directly to the BOE's breadboard.· You would lose the head-turning ability but still retain the Ping))) functionality.

Just brainstorming - good luck with your project!

Another option might be http://www.budgetrobotics.com/shop/?shop=1&cat=157· It might mount differently. So that the Gripper could stay in its place.

I'm new to boe bot and I bought an used one with ping and grabber installed. Well, I changed that installation to lower the center and also added a roboteye camera to it. Here is my setup I haven't tested with a·soda can but I did test with a spray can.
I hope that helped. Take care.

That's a pretty spiffy Boe-Bot there Senna! I like the beam detection for the object in the gripper.

There are a couple of links that may be useful for scanning for and going to an object in the Boe-Bot + Ping))) Ultrasonic section of the Stamps in Class "Mini Projects" page.

One note on the Scan for and Goto Closest object app: You can get rid of all the polar/cartesian conversions by just going forward a little to get the Boe-Bot's turning center over the center of the Ping))) Distance Sensor's scan before turning to face the object. It'll save code space, variables, and execution time.

P.S. When you've got it sorting colored cylinders, we'd love to see a clip!
