Starting robotics with a pair of sumobots, Bad Idea?
Hi,
I just purchased a pair of sumobots. Couldn't pass up a half-price sale on ebay.
Now that the purchase is complete, I'm wondering what I've gotten myself into. Have I set myself up for frustration and failure, or can a person learn sumobots from the ground up, babysteps? My friend has the boe-bot manual, I could follow the lessons in that book, if it would be compatible with the sumobot.
Thanks for any helpful replies,
Steve

I (or more correctly, my son and I) are about one week ahead of you. Going ok so far...
Good luck, and let us know how you get on

Keep in mind that you can download all the PDFs. Here is the recommended order:
1) SumoBot manual through setup and testing of the SumoBot
2) Robotics with the Boe-Bot
(optional) IR Remote with the Boe-Bot
3) Applied Robotics with the SumoBot

I was just at the Parallax web site and found the online manuals for the boe-bot and sumobot.
This is just the kind of direction I was looking for. It would seem that the boe-bot and sumobot have the same brains and the boe-bot lessons will be a fine learning tool. I was concerned that the sumobot was a somewhat more complicated beast, and that advanced skills and experience would be a prerequisite.
Hopefully a week from now I will be able to start playing.
Thanks again, Steve
