interfacing the ping! ultrasonic rangefinder directly to the PC

Please help a noob out here.
I have a parallax servo controller, The way I read the ping sensor documentation is that it is a PWM signal, is there a way to read this signal with my servo controller?
this is a laptop telepresence bot running roborealm, I don't really want to go to the expense of getting a basic stamp just for an ultrasonic sensor.

Thanks

    Hello,

Actually the PING))) doesn’t work on PWM. That implies a duty cycle whereas the PING))) simply returns a pulse whose width is proportional to the distance. Since the pin is bi-directional and not serial there is not way to connect it directly to the PSC without using a BASIC Stamp or other microcontroller to handle the two different protocols. I hope this helps. Take care.

    Try the SX microcontroller·family
    Cheap, versatile and very fast...
