Has anybody tried using the WII remote with the EB500?

As a matter of fact, you can, but not completely.

Open up your eb500 debugging terminal and issue the "lst" command. After it writes "ACK", then press the sync button on the back of your Wii remote. The bluetooth address should appear. This all went fine, until I tried connecting to it. It is entirely possible, because the eb500 does have the correct connection profile as the Wii remote. The thing is, you connect, and it says "ACK" and then "Err 7" which means the remote device refused refused the connection because of security settings. This most likely means the Wii remote uses some kind of PIN.

The thing is, I don't really know how to transmit a PIN number with an eb500, if it's possible. Even with that being done, it still leaves the problem of finding the actual number, although on youtube there's a video ( of a person using a Wiimote with a macbook's bluetooth card, so it looks like finding the security settings is achievable.

Now we just need to find if there's any security options on the eb500.

    my first posting here ever

sweet there's already a thread on this.· I'm wanting to do the same thing.· I've read elsewhere the wiimote is touchy about what it talks to (the msi star key 2.0 being a good one)

Before I buy this bluetooth component, does it have a variety of security connections?· perhaps that's all you need to do?
    (still learning a lot).

But yeah, if there's a "Connect" vs a "ConnectSecure" command, that may make all the difference???????

not sure if this will help, they aren't using an eb500 but check out this link. it has a video and source code for controlling a Roomba with a Wii perhaps you can reverse engineer and adapt it to the eb500
