The xBee-PRO has an outdoor range of one mile, functionally appears identical to the xBee except for the range and power consumption (and it's slightly bigger, but fits in the same socket as the xBee).

ok, i had not looked into that version
i am using the xtend radios for my applications, with a range up to 40 miles LOS
the xBee-Pro, is a lot cheaper and does have a decent range

Ok have decided to modify my XBox controller to have a built in:

    XBee Pro
    Propeller chip

Will post a guide for anyone else who is interested upon completion.
I like the idea of controlling my robot from an XBox controller.

    Thank you smile.gif

    I hate changing my plans.
But to get a PCB made up for my project was going to cost to much, so i have grabbed the joystick parts from the xbox controller and I am going to build my own controller.

Pictures of my progress can be found on my site. (In my signature).

    Wish me luck. smile.gif

May I offer a different solution? Look at the wireless game controllers. They are much better for robot control. I bought a Logitech PS2 game controller and I am interfacing the RF dongle to the propeller. There already is a propeller object for the PS2 controller which should work. There is already a team on the Internet hacking the PS3 controller which is Bluetooth 3.0 and has tilt sensors in addition to the·classic controls. The Wii is also bluetooth based but does not have the classic controls by default.

The xbox controller is USB and I would rather not buy another controller just to destroy the dongle.
I think my way with xbee, prop and adc will work.

    Thanks for your comments smile.gif
