pink password recovery

Ok, dont laugh.

I was working with PINK late last night when something dropped on my keyboard while I was on the config screen. What ended up happening is that somehow the password or username got changed and I cannot login.

I sent an e-mail into Parallax support yesterday and am waiting to see what they say. Does anyone have any idea how to maybe reset this password? I might make an attempt of letting a password cracker fly on it but I have my doubts and think I just wasted this new module. shocked.gif

Thanks for any help / suggestions.

    Hello,

Are you sure the password was changed? In order for the password to take you must type it in twice (two different boxes) and have it match. So if something fell on the keyboard and submitted it the chances of it matching in both lines and submitting are staggering. If the module does need to be reset you will need to send it in to us for this. Take care.

I think it's just the password field that has to be typed twice so it may be the username that you inadvertantly changed?

have you tried variants on "admin" as the username?(or variants of your chosen username).·Might be labourious but you may have to use a list of options and check them off as you try them all.

    good luck

I think it is the username as well. I have tried some simple things like, brian1 brian2 etc but I just couldnt get it. only a few keys were hit and they were around the enter key area. I'm gonna keep trying to guess it before I send it back to you guys.

Is there no way that you guys can upload the firmware? I do have it up and running on the net, and could give you an Ip address to connect to. I think thats possible with the software correct? or does the firmware not update over tcp?

Keys in that area (UK Layout) are #]= and backspace perhaps the username could be brian without a number (backspace hit) or brian1# or brian1= or whatever keys are there on a US keyboard layout.

Hopefully only one character was changed or added so although it still takes some time you may have luck trying the hit and miss route?

another thought, as the password needs two attempts··perhaps hitting the enter key just left the password fields blank? have you tried just the username and·blank for·password?

Since last night I have tried just about every combination that I could i think.

If there is no way for parallax to update the firmware over TCP then I am going to call them for a RMA and have them flash it.

really stinks since I just got it.

maybe a suggestion to update the firmware: Confirm username like the confirm password yeah.gif

    Thanks for your help everyone.
