PING ULTRASONIC SENSOR problem

I'm using the PING sensor w/o the stamp controller. I wrote my own program using a minidragon microcontroller. 5v is being sent out to the PING, but only 300mV is seen·coming back·using an O'scope. What am I doing wrong?

There's a pullup in the PING and a small protective series resistor. The 300mV depends on the circuitry you're using to connect to it and on what your microcontroller is doing. We can advise you on the correctness of your circuitry, but so much depends on your microcontroller and we really can't offer any specific advice on a non-Parallax controller.

Thanks, Mike! We put a resistor in series with the sensor and micro controller and are getting 3.5V now.

Ping uses just one pin for I/O, so immediately following the pinging of the unit with a pulse, you need to make that I/O pin an input. If it's being held low then the return signal from the Ping will not be seen.
