I'm am looking to find where I can buy BEZEL lenses for LEDs (preferably LED matrix modules). I don't know for sure if this is what they are called or how they are sold (e.g. precut sections, etc.

Thanks.

I think what you're referring to is "smoked" Plexiglas. The thinnest material like this I've seen is 0.120" thick. Chances are, you'll have to cut this to size yourself or pay someone else to do it. But, who knows? You may get lucky and find some at one of the surplus houses that's just the right size or close enough.

Another option is to use thinner pieces of clear Lexan (which is easier to cut and shape than Plexiglas), along with some of that tinted film that auto parts stores sell for gangsta cars. As to the latter, you have to buy a lot, and it's not cheap; but you'll have a supply that will last a looooong time!

Stay away from sytrene. It's cheap; but it's brittle, surly, and will crack, chip, and splinter if you look at it cross-eyed.

I usually buy small-quantity plastic sheet material from McMaster-Carr. But there are plenty of plastics houses that specialize in this sort of thing. And you may even find some suitable clear substrate material at Home Depot.

    Thank you Phil.

I was hoping it would be something I could pick up locally at a Lowes or Walmart or if I had to buy it online - at a Jameco or something. However, it doesn't appear to be easily found.

How big does it have to be?

If there's a shop selling developing equipment and chemicals(for B/W print), they may sell sets of filters for the enlarger, which is used with variable-contrast paper. The 4.5 or 5 filters are a very deep red and shuld be really nice for this kind of usage.
you'll have to stiffen it with some clear lexan or something, though.

Don't ask me to give away mine, though, as the no. 5 filter is currently stuck behind the glowing apple-logo on my iBook. (I never use the no. 5 filter anyway. The others, though... )

I have some 8x8 Bi-Color (Red / Green) 3mm LED matrix modules that I want to put behind some "smoked" plexiglass or something. It can't be red or green due to it being bi-colored. By using (4) of them (16x16 total) - something about (3" or 4") x (3" or 4") should be good. I was hoping to get some assortment if possible too to see what looks best. However, I think anything with a darker hue would be good. It would have to not be too thick either - thin but still flexible.

    Thanks.

I just ordered some grey "smoked" plexiglass (1/8") 6x12" for $2.59 and a polycarbonate / lexan sheet (1/8") 6x12 for $2.49 with a 3% discount for 2-5 items. Unfortunately the cheapest shipping was almost $7.

However,·I think this should work well.
