I know that it is called the "prop plug" but can it be used for the BS2 or the any of the BS2 family?

Yes, it is a USB to Serial converter, but we already have a product by that name and another product called USB2SER, but the pin ordering is different (dont ask). So we named it PropPlug to signify that it will work with all Propeller based board we produce that have a 4 pin programming header interface.

Now if you want to program the BS2 using the PropPlug you need to include a 74HC04 which is 4 inverter gates. This is because the PropPlug presents true signal levels and the BS2 expects the SIN SOUT and ATN to be inverted signals so you need to use the 74HC04 to invert those signals. If you just want it for communication purposes off of some other pins of the BS2 you can connect them directly and specify non-inverted in your SERIN and SEROUT statements.
