IC package type reference

I'm looking at playing with some EEPROM chips with my propeller, but my head is spinning when i look at the various IC package types that one can have. It seems obvious that PDIP is something that will fit in a socket on my breadboard, but does anyone know of a web reference to see what the various IC package types look like? DFN-S,MSOP, SOIJ, PDIP?
Thanks

For those who are making the jump from though hole to surface mount, I suggest the SOIC package. It has the largest pitch of all surface mount packages.
