Hello Everyone,
·
·· Due to a recent error by a third party, Microsoft has drivers online for FTDI Devices that are registered to an ACG PC/SC Smart Card Reader.· Your Parallax product could have the wrong drivers installed if the hardware is connected before installing the FTDI USB Drivers from our website.· If your PC connects and downloads the drivers from the Microsoft Update Site you may get incorrect drivers.· If this happens please use the steps outlined below to remove the incorrect drivers and get the correct drivers installed.· To prevent this, always install the drivers from our website before connecting any Parallax USB hardware.· See the link below.

·
NOTE: You will not be able to use the driver installer from our website once the incorrect drivers have been installed.· You must use the ones located at the link below.

ACG PC/SC Removal Procedure

1.················· Be sure your Parallax USB Device is connected for this procedure.
2.················· Go into your Device Manager (Control Panel/System/Hardware Tab/Device Manager) and find the ACG Reader Driver (should be listed under Smart Card Readers).· Open the category (by clicking on the plus sign) and right-click on the driver itself and select Uninstall.
3.················· Disconnect your Parallax USB Hardware from the PC.
4.················· Extract all files (should be two) from the FTClean.zip compressed folder (linked below) onto your desktop and run (double-click) “FTClean.exe” and click the “Clean System” button.· Be sure the hardware is disconnected and click “OK” on the “Disconnect all FTDI devices from the PC” dialog.· Click “YES” to continue and when prompted to “Cancel” driver uninstallation click “NO”. http://www.ftdichip.com/Resources/Utilities/FTClean.zip
5.················· Download the FTDI VCP Drivers from the following link and extract all files into a folder you create on your desktop.· http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/CDM/Win2000/CDM%202.00.00.zip
6.················· Plug your Parallax hardware back in to the PC USB Port.
7.················· If the Hardware Wizard appears select “No, not at this time” (if available) and select “Install from a list or specific location”.
8.················· Select the checkbox to “Include path” and use the “Browse” button to point to the folder where you extracted the files from Step 5.
9.················· After it installs these drivers click “Finish”.
10.············· You may have to follow steps 7 through 9 a second time.· Your hardware should work properly now.
