SX chip not found?!?!

Hi all,
I've been using the BasicStamp for several months and decided to step up to the SX chip and developer kit.· I think I've connected it like the book shows but I get the no chip found error.· I double checked everything, I only have com1 on the computers so I'm pretty sure that's right.· I changed chips so I don't think that's the problem.· Does anybody have a pic with the key, and blitz connected properly so I can double check that.· I just don't get what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for any help.

Do you have sufficient power to the SX board? And the board powered up? Sorry, I know these are silly questions but we all miss the simple stuff from time-to-time. When connected properly, the SX-Key/Blitz will be component side up.

I'm using the 7.5 volt 1amp power supply that Parallax sells. I put that into the 6-9vdc in on the board. The light does power up green. I'm SURE I'm missing something silly, I take no offense to any suggestions at all.

Does your system have an Internal Modem? I've seen some systems where the DB-9 serial port on the motherboard was set to disabled in the BIOS so that the add-in Modem becomes COM1 and may be the only one that shows up. Can you check in the BIOS to see what is configured? Is there any chance of trying this on another PC?

I brought the unit into work with me and I got it working there, so I assume it must be your idea RobotWorkshop. Thanks!
Now what does that key ring thing do and why do we need it? I assume it's incase you don't have the nice development board? Or am I supposed to hook the power supply up to that in series with the blitz?

The "key ring" is used if your SX is powered by less than 5 volts.
