I want to build a Packbot-like tracked robot that can climb rough terain and stairs. Be controlled remotely or autonomous. Mini-Videocam and PS2-like controls

Building bipeds (or thiking about them) is fun, don't spoil it.

    I know how to do some of this. My main question. What commercially available material would withstand the rough treatment.

    You seem to want to do lots of things and you ask lots of very open ended general questions without demonstrating that you have put out any effort yourself to find out. Please stop.

    Hi Smartguy,

    I am in the process of attempting to build a robot that will have many of the same capabilities that you have requested.

    The path is not easy and I have had to do a lot of research on the web that has yielded a fair amount of useful information about what I want to accomplish.

    The kind of robot that you want to build will have to be fairly robust and it seems that you want to make a scaled down copy of the iRobot Packbot. Why not start with iRobot support and see what they have to say. You might also get on the Create Forum and indicate what you want to accomplish and see if you can get any responses.

    Just a thought.
