This is most likely caused by the MRU list in windows (MRU= Most Recently Used). If you used the Basic Stamp editor to open a file from the CDROM, it will go into the list of recently accessed documents. Each time you launch the program, the MRU listing is renewed and it attempts to "touch" the files in the list. If one of those files was on the CDROM drive, it will prompt you to insert the CDROM. There are up to 10 entries in this list in the FILES pull down menu area.
To solve this, you can either:
1) Open 10 or more files from your hard disk to "push" all the old entries off the list
2) use the instructions provided by Microsoft to clear the MRU list from the registry
Hope this helps.

See if you have any removable drives that are "off-line". In my case, I have an HP Photosmart printer with the card reader slots. Those register as removable disks. When the Stamp editor application loads, it scans for drives that are listed in your drives list (i.e. in Explore or My Computer). If I turn my printer off, that removable disk, G: in my case goes away, and the problem with the message along with it.
I didn't get to trying Vern's solution. It may solve your issue, but you may see this again in the future even if it does solve the issue for the time being.
Or, you can just keep pressing CONTINUE twice to get past it.... argh!
I think Parallax might be addressing it at some point.

The window is title as·and message say:
Stampw.exe - No disk
There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive
I·already chek the preferences on the tab that say Files & Directories, the initial directory is "the last one", and all the module directories are routed to C: so at this point there sould dont be any reason why is still asking for the CD on the drive...

This morning I downloaded a ZIP file from Parallax (Ping routines) and when I try to open the .BS files... guess what !!
No disk in the drive !!! I have to select the cancel option and then it opens without any problem.
Ed
Twice cancel will allow to continue.
I'm not happy !!

I'll just follow this thread for solutions.
Ed
What I do before was: first I check on the menu Edit -> preferences -> Files & Directories, first clear all the module directories, and select Ok, the I go back on the same tab and select restore defaults, and finally reinstall the editor back on my sistem.... Im not sure wich one of the 2 things resolve the issue but today is working 100% with no problem.

I cleared the directories too + restore defaults (don't think that is necessary ) closed the editor and after restart,
it works fine.
Thank you for keeping up the good spirit and find the fix.
have a good weekend,

Mouse will last a little longer now.
We've known about this issue for quite some time now, but have never determined exactly what is causing it because it never happened to us.· All this time I've been thinking this was due to the Integrated Explorer receiving a message from Windows about a drive that exists, but not receiving the correct status of that drive and trying to scan it.
Now I think you have completely pinpointed the error... the Favorites list and recently used list in the editor itself.· That, combined with the Integrated Explorer, is probably the problem.
Thank you!· I will look into this and see if I can prevent such a thing from causing such an annoying situation.

The issue referenced most frequently in the thread appears to be different than the issue I am having where a removable drive is "available"... in my case a card slot in an HP Photosmart printer, but there is no card in the slot(s). My PC will return the error message "There is no disk in the drive" twice upon opening of the editor software. Two clicks of the CONTINUE button will always get my into the software. If I turn off the printer, this error never comes up on open.
Applying the changes to preferences as suggested by others that resolved their issue does not remedy the issue in my case. So the editor software still has something inherent in it that searches around for drives (or their status) for some reason upon opening of the software.

alhough the fix as proposed by Mr Fus did work in my case, it appears now that this was a
very short lasting fix. The error message has returned and·when the same·fix is applied,
that doesn't help anymore.··:<((

I insert the CD from my boe-bot (to see some of the pics from the board and the BS2), and after i take it out the editor start asking again for the CD... I just unplug the USB cable from my boe-bot and restart my laptop, again i can open the editor with no being asked for the CD...
Im not sure if this will happend every time I insert the CD on the drive and the editor recognice the CD as the one where the instalation files come and try to get acces to it for some reason..., and if I dont insert the CD again I will stop having this problem or what...
I wish every one a good weekend

and a Memory Stick where I keep BoeBot stuff.
I really don't know how to predict when the program will ask for a CD.
Today not yet. Must be my lucky day.
