EEPROM Compatibility

I found the Microchip 24LC1025 EEPROM, which has 1024KB of memory, and is pin compatible with the 24LC256. Judging by the part number, it is also protocol compatible. However, I just want to be sure, and would appreciate it if somebody here could confirm that this chip could be used as a drop-in replacement for the 32KB EEPROM attached to pins 28/29. Granted, only the first 32KB·of space could be used for the program, but the rest of the EEPROM could be used for storing other things. Right?
