Boe Vision

Hi Guys,
I wanted to share my latest project. This Boe Bot is my test platform ( testing fit of parts ......I can not program yet ). I have been trying to come up with a good out door Boe Bot that I could have fun with from·my Kitchen. I have a Parallax Blue Tooth module that I intend to install soon. I am hoping that I can program the Boe Bot to find a green ball in my yard. Its a tall order for me because I am more of a builder then a programmer. I will be installing a gripper on the front as soon I finnish building it. The gripper has been planned, that is why the Boe bot looks alittle heavy in the rear right now. The camera is one of the cheap ones you can find on ebay, its under $50 with the receiver. The LEDs are 10mm 130,000 mcd, these will help in low light. Notice the improvement on the light design, now they will be aimed at what the cam is aimed at. Enjoy the pics and if you any questions or advice please dont hesitate to ask or offer constructive criticism.

A green ball in the green yard.....thats kind of silly. What I meant to say is a hot pink ball :-)

That whole project is so neat! I find it particularly cool because i have that exact same type of camera and I thought I was the only one w/ it. Neato. Your project is so much better organize and structured than any of mine. If this were my project the mat tracks would be tripped up by the loads of wiring hanging off the side. What you need to do now is mount a small ir gun(like an ir emitter wrapped in black electrical tape) onto of the camera, build two of these bots and have wars w/ ppl online. That would be cool!

    Hi Diablode,
Thanks for the compliment. That online idea sounds great, but I would need alot of help setting something like that up. I am barely able to program in basic ..lol. I do have a bigger better pan and tilt with bearings that I am fitting with an airsoft gun and laser pointer.

You are a god. I Need help BADLY with regards to making a pan/tilt system for my paintball gun. Last time I tried it was horrible, the servo's didn't match up, it was made of wood, etc. I can help you with programming(Basic not so much but I'm ok in it) and with any online stuff(I love to make useless apps have online capabilities for giggles) if you could help me with the actual PHYSICAL stuff, like pan and tilt systems :P

    DiablodeMorte,
Do you any pics of your original pan and tilt setup. It would give me an idea what you have and what you are trying to do.

I would like to know where you got the Matttracks. They look great. How much were they? I went to their webbsite, but did not see where to buy.

    Hi Wireguy,
The Mattracks are no longer availible. They were part of an radio controlled truck from radio shack. Radio Shack sold the Mattracks spare parts and sold the last of their inventory this past month with the exception of 6 left tracks. There are 2 sets on ebay right now, but if you get them you will have to make some parts to fit them to your robot. Sometimes you will see the whole rc truck on ebay. They were sold on as rc hummer and a rc ford pickup. Do a Boe Bot search on ebay and you will see the mattracks that are up for auction this week. If you do a search for rc and mattracks you may get some results for the hummer or pickup.

I agree. The Mattracks look really neat. Wish they were still availiable. Maybe Parallax could pick them up as an accesory.

I am currently trying to work with the company in China that made them. I am awaiting replies. Radio Shack gave me the contact information but the Chinese have not responded for over a week. You just cant throw money at people the way·you used to....lol

    Tom,

What material are the mounting brackets for the mattracks and your camera made of? And how do you mill them. They are very neat.

I did see some mattracks for sale on e-bay right now. I sent a message to Wireguy. Are those yours?

A few people have asked me about getting a Mattrack Boe Bot. I just wanted to let people know that I have listed one on ebay.
