possible amplifier on Text to Speech?

I would like to know how to increase the volume on the Text to Speech module.

I attempted attaching regular computer speakers but I'm not really sure how to go about that.

I used an LM386 running from a 9volt supply for an audio amp to an 8ohm speaker. The LM386 is available at Radio Shack for less than $2. The Emic sounds great -- nice and loud. You take the AOUT pin of the Emic to the input side of the audio amp circuit.

Here is a thread with discussion about this kind of amp circuit: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?p=632642

And don't forget: any kind of speaker enclosure (even cardboard!) will make your existing speaker much louder and direct sound better.

Bear in mind that you must capacitively couple the output from the Emic into any amplifier you use. This is covered in the documentation in the description for the AOUT pin. Take care.
