Hi i am in the process of building a robot and thought that some of you might want to look at how it is going.
The site for my robot is robot.tmcp.com.au the site is not completed as of yet but it does contain pictures videos and am in the process of constructing a parts list.

Please go and check it out.

P.S I need a name for the robot.

Eventually it will see an object in its path and calculate the best path to go around it.
Bot = ROBOT
OB = OBJECT

----------                          -------
|       |                          |      |
|  BOT  |- - - - - - - - -         | OB   |         - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
----------                -         ------         -
                              -                 -
                                - - - - - - - -

    My second post will help more than this one.

    Don't use "my robot" for a title. Give an explanation.

    Sorta like this? www.geology.smu.edu/~dpa-www/robo/jbot/ Scroll down to "navigating through the woods and take a look at the "second hat trick" video, it's impressive.

    I've seen that robot before. Dont get your hopes up though, robots using the same tech cost upwards of 20 grand. With the propeller, you could use the Parallax Propeller Proto board [http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=P8X32A-Q44]. At a discount right now. Definitely worth the price. 8 32-bit processors in it. 32 I/O pins in every chip. The problem you would have is not with the propeller. The Propeller is a master of modern engineering. The thing that would give you a problem would be locomotion. Parallax servos are not powerful (or fast) enough to be used on an exploration bot. You would need some big DC motors. That is a small problem because they wouldn't run on a simple PULSOUT command. Controlling them would be a pain. Is this going to be a remotely controlled 'bot? If if is, you'll want a tiny color camera and a bluetooth comuntications system (personally, i prefer XBee [www.selmaware.com] ) but you could also use the Embedded Blue Transceiver [http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=30068]. If it is autonomous, you'll need some heay-duty (non-parallax, no offense) infrared sensors. If you must stick to off the shelf parts, get a PING))) sensor [http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28015] with a mounting bracket [http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=570-28015]. A serial GPS reciever [http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28146] would also be very good for an exploration robot. For $114.99 each, you could get a High-Torque Hitec servo [http://www.servocity.com/html/hsr-5995tg_ultra_torque.html] or you could get a high RPM and high torque Dayton gearmotor [http://www.servocity.com/html/dayton_gear_motors__12v_.html] and wire up a motor controller. More ideas to come.

    Bipedguy...I have managed to get it to move. In the video it is moving at half speed. And i am using the propeller proto board.

    Thank you for your suggestions anyway. smile.gif

    Ok my site has almost caught up just have a few more fabricated parts to add to the parts section and the info page to be done.

    Will list 'thank you' notes to all the people who have helped me and all the people who help me with this project in the future.

    So please if you have helped me post your name/forum name in this topic and what you helped me with/name of topic you answered in.

    Thank you smile.gif

    For those DC motors, get this:
    www.ifirobotics.com/victor-883-speed-controller-robots.shtml

    The standard PWM cable goes in, and 24 volts go out (or less, depending on the signal...)

    The only downside is the price (you'll need one per motor)

    I am using two 4QD motor controllers with the pwm addon device.

    Have redesigned the site to be less speed hungry.
    I have also added a feedback page, so feel free to comment away.

    If I left anyones name off of the contributors list please pm me.

    Thank you smile.gif
