Ideas for stamper?

Hello,

I would like to learn something about stamping mechanism. I am going to develop a stamping device which can stamp some letters and time to the papers. I will control that with BasicStamp. However, at this stage, my question isn't exactly about controlling. Which kind of mechanism should i need to use control it easily? If you have any documents or information, please share with me.

Because if i built a good mechanism, it would be easy to control.
