Connectors for Ribbon Cable

Currently I use·24AWG Rainbow ribbon cable to make my connectors... I crimp a bunch of male pins and make connector, 2,4, 8·etc·conductors... What I am looking for is a better way... Is there some kind of connector that has 2-10 connections that I can crimp on at the same time. I love the ribbon cable just not the connectors.

You're looking for an "insulation-displacement connector" (IDC) . You can install these with a vise. Just squeeze 'em on without even having to strip the leads. DigiKey carries them from several manufacturers.

2 by 16 is a popular size, even here on the dark continent. Obviously Digikey, Mouser and RS will have them but they are so common that two of the four small electronics shops in Durban South Africa, the City nearest me stock them. Once you've used them, you'll want to throw your soldeing iron away...

There are variations, Tyco/Amp, Molex and Yazaki all mke slightly different versions.

In a pinch, I've used hard drive or floppy cables. you can cut off the unused part of each connector with a saw or dremel, and peel apart the ribbon cable. If you're anything like my, you'll have 5-10 computer ribbon cables just laying around or in a junk box.
