I see that the TCS230 Color Sensor Evaluation Kit shown·here:

http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=30054

has been discontinued, and that it will be replaced with the TCS230-DB color sensor product shown·here:

http://www.parallax.com/detail.asp?product_id=28302

The replacement product is listed as coming soon....

It's so tacky for me ask I know, but I have to ask·just the same since I'd like to use that product soon.· With all respect, any rough idea of an availability time-line from our friendly Parallax folks?

A humble thank you,

Tim

They have been ordered, and we are hoping they will be availible by the end of this month. But we haven't received a hard delivery date from them so we haven't placed a date on the website.

Thanks for that information Paul, I appreciate it very much.· It looks to me like the new module will mimic the other very closely.· Are there any particular·differences you can tell us about?

    Thanks again,

    Tim,

The major differences are as follows:
    • There is a single module, without the AppMod adapter and connecting cable. This module plugs directly into the MoBoStamp-pe.
    • The connector is a 2mm header (instead of 0.1"). However, the unit can be adapted for use with any system using the upcoming DB-Expander board and DB-Extension Cable.
    • The unit will run on 5V only or from dual 3.3V logic and 5V LED supplies, making it compatible with 3.3V logic (e.g. Propeller), if desired.
    • The output is always enabled. However, the LEDs can still be strobed, as before.
    • The lens has a longer focal length, yielding a smaller subject "spot" area.
    • The module is lead-freee and RoHS-compliant.

    Phil,

Thanks for your help and information.· I've been following the thread of your work, but I wasn't sure if·that was related here or not.· I'm excited to learn that it is, and am looking forward to using the new·camera.· You have obviously worked very hard to develop this product.
