Optical switches for alternate tachometer

Hi,

I've got the Melexis hall sensor working for a·tachometer project.

I was also interested in trying out the optical type switches for comparision
and a chance to expand my knowledge base.

Can anyone give me some insight to the various component part / mfg that
I might try?
