the time machine redux(electric fence from Home Power magazine) basic stamp dri

Hi All,
I have several (read 15+ HV stunners(all broken) and 3 tasers(2 dismantled m-18s and 1 functional x-26c) and have been stunned and tasered numerous times due both to accidents and deliberately(both drive stun and dart shot for practice) and have played with electric shocks life long and have more than a passing awareness of ohms law. I am currently thinking of using the output circuity (after changing the bias resistor value and using a 4n33 photo darlington to drive same with the PULSEOUT command and the 2n2222a/2n3055 output circuit) of the following http://www.homepower.com/files/electricfence.pdf to make a basic stamp based electric fence (or PICAXE 8M(HERESY!! ALERT!!))(use for destruction testing only and implement on propellor protoboard only)(for final product)(ie the propellor can dedicate a processor to watching a capacitive proximity alert wire and another one to shocking the intruder(may be illegal in your jurisdiction(also may be legal for wildlife/possum(oakland,calif,usa )control)

any ideas about 20 kv output vs 1n2004/1n1004/1n2008/2006 protected circuits
with or without 4n33 phtot darlingtons??

have fun steven colbert(featured make magazine as I am writing this)

well looking at this posting from the viewpoint of a year later its hard to decipher what I am really asking for here so I will restate,

I am seeking to use a basic stamp or propeller chip as the active timing and control element for an electric fence for wildlife and domestic animal / security control purposes.

I have been looking at a 2n2222a/2n3055 circuit that was featured as a project called "the time machine" that was used to drive a standard 12v ignition coil(I am told GM coils are the best for HV experimentation) to make a low lost very reliable electric fence for stock animal control purposes on a ranch.

the schematic for same can be found here http://www.homepower.com/files/electricfence.pdf

I am using the 2n2222a/2n3055 / the HV generation circuit(driver transistors and the coil) plus an optoisolator to the i/o pins of a Basic Stamp 1/2 or propeller chip protoboard.

I will use a program written in Basic or spin or forth to give the necessary short pulses and duty cycle for same to power the HV section of the circuit.

I would like to sample the resistance between ground and the hot wire inbetween HV pulses to see if the animal has moved away from the wire yet.(without frying my input pins) (dropping resistor coupled to an optoisolator?)

Any ideas and thoughts very welcome

    Gwen -

You will probably get much better overall response if you ask this over on the Propeller Forum. This is the Basic Stamp forum.

oops sorry about that.. the app migrated from a basic stamp to a propellor over the past year, will edit the above comment to flect that, thanx for the heads up.
