Spin Stamp Progress

Just wondering if anybody had any further info on the Spin Stamp?

I'm eager to see if any progress has been made on this as I would have loved to been an alpha/beta tester but I missed out as I·didn't become·a parallax customer until december.

The spin stamp would perfectly fit a project I am undertaking right now....

Any info would be appreciated.

We are in pre-manufacturering with it, we have ordered a manufacturing panel and will develop a process based off of the panel. When that it done and panels pass inspection and the documentation is written for it we will make it availible.

Not to seem like i'm rushing you or anything, but I don't suppose you have an estimated lead time? It just makes a difference to my project which way I go. I would like the Spin Stamp, but if it's not available soon enough I might just have to try to build one. I 've seen some fantastic efforts of some on this forum.

Im not in manufacturing so I can't provide a hard date, likely in 4-6 weeks. I have a couple prototypes on hand, I can arrange it to send you one of them so you can get started in development. You'll need to purchase a PropClip, but if you send me your name and address in a private message. I'll provide you the name of a sales associate to ask for when you call to order and they will have shipping throw the Spin Stamp into your order.

Its a Propeller in a Basic Stamp pin compatible board. Not 5v compatible without external components though I believe, but should work in a board of education or similar.
P.S. It is still programmed in spin also and requires a propclip

Paul, do you have the pinout and/or schematic for the Spin Stamp?· I'd like to start working on a piggyback version for it.

No schematic, but it's pin compatible with the BS2, so you shouldn't need to redesign your stamp piggyback.

Paul, does it have an EEPROM like the Prop - what pins would you use?·

I assume physical pins 1, 2 and 3 would not be connected.· Could you program it with a PropPlug?· What pins?·

Does it have RESn and BOEn pins?·

Does it need a crystal - what pins?

Yes, they are hidden (not brought out to pins)
Correct. PropClip on the edge (Divot side of DIP), they are hidden as well.
    No
    No

Remember its pin compatible with the Stamp, if the stamp doesn't have the pin, the Spin Stamp doesnt have the pin either.

    Sid,
It's just like a BS2 except for the 3.3V I/O and the fact that you program it via a PropClip, not the serial port. The PropClip clamps on one end of the substrate. I imagine, if you were careful, you could solder a 4-pin header into the holes for the PropClip and use a PropPlug instead. It has the BS2 pin assignments and plugs directly into a BOE. The serial port works too, just not for programming (and the ATN pin is connected to one of the "other" Propeller I/O pins so you can monitor it).

Paul, are you saying it has an embedded EEPROM which is program-only accessible?

I do not have a PropClip, only a PropPlug.· Is there a·picture available - I am concerned about the mechanics of the proposed piggyback.· Sorry to be so much trouble.

Sid think of it like the Propstick USB, without the USB on-board, only 16 I/O and pin compatible to the BS2. There are pictures of the PropClip on the webpage for it at parallax.com and the dimensions are provided in the documentation.

Has a price point been set yet for it? I was wondering because the Propstick USB is expensive for projects that require more than one or two. I hope they are about the same price as the proto board, as they use a similar BOM, but less PCB.

Do you have any info on this Paul?

Not yet, I typically don't participate in price setting (Marketing does).
