OH NO, Broken pins

In an attempt to remove the BS2 from the BOE, (Lord that thing was IN THERE), all of the sudden one end came out much sooner than the other. Bent the pins, the 2 at the bottom, 8 and ? were bent almost 90 deg. I straightened all of the others but the 2 on the end broke off right where the pin begins to widen. Any suggestions on the best way to repair ? I may be able to do without the 2 I/O. I thought I might solder a jumper·to the broke pin and stick it in the breadboard. Will the stamp take the heat or should I leave it be ?
Open to suggestions,
Sadly

For Stamps and IC's I have to remove on a regular basis, I insert them into a socket and keep the socket and IC together as a unit. If I damage the socket I can replace it without wearing out the pins on the more expensive chip.

I think this is the part you are looking for

maybe you can just solder it into the IC Socket (on second thought )... just insert some scrap wire between the walls of the IC socket and the broken pin so the contact is made devil.gif

one of these lifts both sides at once, if you lift it straight up and slow.
    ... quickly, I could not find a U.S. supplier. cool.gif
But you could make one if you are ambitious enough.

Two EXCELLENT suggestions, I was dreading the thought of trying to solder something onto the terminals. After all, I am a WELDER, BIG STUFF, 300 to 400 AMP, 1/4" ELECTRODES !

    Thanks

I had an pin break once and· I just put a 1/4 resistor in the slot then solder the other end to the·chip and cut off the other end of resistor (only dime a dozen!). I have had out twice - so far - you got to do what you got to do avioding replacing the chip. Good Luck - Dave.

    Thanks Dave,
I may try that along with the socket to socket deal to preserve the connection.
