Hi
·I am looking for some help on the following project.
·I just purchased a beautifully made to scale RC tank 30 inches long and 12 inches wide. It has all the props
·that one needs to make this tank an exceptionally built model (Made in China). It operates on 40 mHz.
What I want to do is eliminate the RC component and make it autonomous by using any of the·Stamps (currently
I have both BS2 and BS2sx). How do I go about it? Do I simulate the RC after hacking it? Do I open the interior
of the tank (maybe too difficult) and try to hack it from there?
I am sure that some of the participants of this forum have encountered such an issue in the past and maybe
they have some suggestions for me. I have experience both with hardware and the Basic stamp products.
I have looked at various Tank forums without any success.
Any help or advice will be greatlly appreciated

The back cover of March SERVO magazine has a picture of such a tank Parallax is building. This tank used to be R/C but used relays for motor control so that it was always full forward/reverse/off. We removed all the circuitry and replaced the relay boards with two HB-25 Motor Controllers. The turret control motor will be driven by a Pololu controller or Motor Mind B (not yet decided).
The plans are to use our GPS to have the Tank navigate to way-points while avoiding obstacles in its path. This should all be able to be done by a BASIC Stamp Module on a Super Carrier Board. To demonstrate the HB-25 control of the tank a standard R/C receiver was connected to the HB-25 Modules and the tank was driven around by remote. Once completed this project will be posted in our Completed Projects Forum with code and schematics as well as some pictures. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Take care.
