Better Game I/O, etc.

I am wondering if the FTDI Vinculum chip·could host and USB game controller device [a clone of the Sony Playstation II]?
If so, developing a hardware interface to the Propeller and a SPIN object would give users access to a lot of generic devices available as joysticks and so forth.
Aside from obvious game applications, such I/O would be useful for a wide range of robotic applications.
