Getting Started with GPS

Can anyone provide me some links to get started working with a GPS module with a microprocessor.·· The only place I have really have found to purchase GPS modules is at sparkfun.com (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/categories.php?cPath=4_17)· can anyone comment on these modules?

    Have you seen the Parallax GPS Module? The following page has documentation and source code for use with the BASIC Stamps.

    I am interested in how fine of movement it can register and how quickly can it give updates about position.· I realize that there are limitation depending on circumstances about how accurate the position will be, but ignoring that problem how fine of movements can it pick up.· For instance, if I move it in around the circumference of a perfect circle 12" in diameter, would i be able to able to accurately record something close to a circle?· I am trying to get a grip on the limitations
