Basic stamp bs2 and usb-rs232 (serial) adapter

Hi, i have a bs2 and a notebook computer which doesn't have the serial port, so i bought an usb - serial adapter. But i have some problems : i cannot download program from computer to bs2, it says it doesn't find basic stamp. But in the debug window seem that bs2 transmit data to computer ( so my serial adapter seems to work somehow ). I mean i made a program for test so when o push a button my bs2 sends a string to debug, and seems that computer seceives tha string ok. Why i cannot transfer program to bs2?

Only certain USB-to-Serial adapters will work when programming a Stamp... I would buy the one that Parallax sells as it is guaranteed.

or ... does anyone know why doesn't work? maybe can be done some changes to make it work...

Hello,

Often the reason many other brand adapters don’t work for programming is they don’t properly support the handshaking lines. Specific timing is required to program the BASIC Stamp and even poorly written drivers can cause problems.
