non contact temp sensor

I am working on a project to monitor the temperature of an elevator brake drum.· Since the drum rotates, I cannot mount the sensor to the drum.· I want to have two temp. set points, one to stop the car at the next floor, and if for some reason the temps continue to rise the second would make a emergency shut down.· Sorry if this info has been posted before, but can someone recomend a suitable IR sensor?

If I remember correctly piezoelectric crystals have thermoelectric properties which can be used to generate an electrical potential when they are heated so it may be possible to detect radiant heat from the motor with piezoelectric sheets.
