propeller and ping sensors. how fast?

i was just wondering how fast do you think you can ping a Ping))?

assume one cog is doing nothing but pinging. how many times per second do you think one could get data back. im sure the ping sensor itself is the slow part of this path.

one other question is. the light on the ping sensor flashes when it pings or sends out a signal. but it doesnt flash on the retrun signal. sound travles what? 600 ft per second give or take? the ping is effective for 12 feet so that means that 1/50 of a second.. hmm not sure where im going with this.

Look at the PING documentation for the timing. It's under 20ms from initiation pulse until worst case next one (yep, about 1/50th of a second).
