Hi,

Does anyone know where I might find application notes on the following·application:

I would like to program a·Basic Stamp to control the on/off functions of a 9VC device remotely by using a handheld IR controller.··I wish to control the remote device initially with only two·commands: 1)·Turn Off and 2)·Resume Operation. A 10 foot communication distance is adequate.

I need to keep the BasicStamp circuit as small as possible as I wish to install into an existing device.· I heard of the amazing things a stamp can do and I'm sure it can handily accomplish this simple task however I have never actually work with a stamp device before, and I am kinda excited about getting to know it, so all the help I can get would be most appreciated. Thank you. Gary

Download some of the tutorials in the Stamps in Class section of Parallax's website. Start with "What's a Microcontroller?" and "IR Control for the BOE-BOT". The second shows you how to do an IR remote control with the Stamp and an IR detector..

Hi Gary, for the price and size the Stamp is an amazing device, the second of the two articles Mike mentioned is so simple to follow its pure genius and seems like it fits the bill perfectly.
