High torque motor

I need some kind of motor/gearbox combo with enough torque to mix 40 litres of bread dough.· It doesn't have to be real fast.· Kind of like a bread machine, maybe twice the power.·· How/where can I get/build such a thing?· I have to be able to attach a paddle to the end, too, of course.·· Perhaps even more important, where is a better place to ask this sort of question?· I don't have much $ to spend on this, maybe 40$.

So I need something like·350 watts 180 rpm (9.3 N m)·120 VAC·continuous duty prefferably with a half-flat output shaft.

Hey fella.. my best bet is to use a car windshield motor, they run at 12 VDC... and have a brutal amount of torque.... although perhaps that is not even powerful enough, you might need a belt or sprocket combination.. anyway.. you can buy them online for about $15 of you can go to a junkyard... smile.gif

Anybody know where I can get a motor that will run on 120 vac though?· I mean obviously such motors are pretty darn common, but I just want to buy one with a nice gearbox and output shaft instead of hacking together bicycle parts and pulleys and a motor from a blower or something.· Is there no place you can just buy stuff like that?

Probably not for $40.00. The 12 volt stuff comes pretty cheap becuase of the massive quantities produced for the Automotive market. Your best bet will be surplus supply houses like The Electronic Gold Mine, American Science and Surplus, BG Micro, etc.

Check this one out from The Electronic Goldmine www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G15366

There are many choices here www.google.com/search?q=120vac+gearmotors&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1
Stenner and Granger carry many different models to chose from.

You can get some new wiper motors at allelectronics, they are 12vdc, very cheap, and they are unbelievably powerful.
