Boe-Bot - no power light

Greetings all.· Last year I purchased the Board of Education from the Geeks, but due to "issues" (such as no time at all!) I was unable to play with it.· I ordered the usb adapter since none of my machines have a serial port anymore, loaded the drivers, put in a fresh set of batteries, plugged everything in (double checking the IC positions etc etc before applying power ) and switched to position 1 from 0, and ... nothing. no green light, nada. Does the BOE need 9 volts to run? Seems like it should power up with 6 according to the docs.· I metered the battery pack at over 6v. so now what?

Thanks for any help

Eric

Check all your wiring and connections. Mine powers up with a green led with four month old AA batterys. Don't connect anything to the bot (no usb no servos, nothing and see if you get a light. Check the polarity of the led. Let us know what you find.

As of right now the board is empty, no servos, no wirers nothing but the bare board and a BS2. The LED is soldered so close I can't see the· polarity (factory assembled and all that). Not a whole lot of other wires and connections to check (one serial usb connector and one plug from the battery pack). so I'm a little stumped.

Try to isolate your problem. Is it the BOE, the BS2, or the connection?
    1. clean your connections with a lens cloth (dry).
    2. swap out your BS2 with another one.
    3. swap out your BOE with another one.

    Shameless plug:

Sorry for the delay in response, but I teach (7 classes this semester - leaves me only weekends to play with the fun stuff) but so far the power is getting to the board, and to the voltage regulator.· I checked the bs2 chip, all pins are good , I'll download the schematics and do a trace of the power.· My led is right on the board and not very clear (shower stall opaque so to speak) so I need to find my magnifier and see what I can see.

    I don't have a spare BS2 or BOE (yet).· I'll start my tracing Friday night (I teach until 10 tonight and until 5 on friday 8( )

Thanks· for the ideas though - the hunt continues!

Make sure the power cable is wired correctly.

I recieved one from them AND it was mis-wired. I un-soldered it from the battery pack, soldered it correctly and away it goes.
