Flash extra EEPROM?

Hi.

I have a Propeller propstick and I could really use some extra memory for some mapping data.
But what possibilities do I have?

I would prefer a solution which does not require to much soldering/electronics work.

Any ideas? Suggestions? Links?

Best Regards.

I have added an extra 24LC256 with 2 pullups on sda and scl and used the available i2c objects to address/write to it - no issues. There are minimal connections. Also Mike green has a Minimal_I2c_Object - which makes writing to the boot eeprom easy.

Yes adding a little serial EEPROM would only take a handful of wires.
It's fast and easy data storage. Plus there are a lot of objects to support such devices.

So how large does EEPROM come? I have only seem 1mb modules, is it possible to have perhaps 16mb?

Im not sure how much data im going to map, but better safe than sorry.

Another option is to pick up a secure digital breakout board from SparkFun and use an SD card.
You can download the file system support for the propeller from

    Yes, definately SD FTW.

It takes what, 4 pins to drive an SD card? and that's if you use the card detect line.

    Hi thanks.

http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=136 <-- so this is what im looking for, and then a SD card?

But im guessing that i then actually could use a SD card with a 4 wires soldered directly on the SD card and onto the propeller?

For what its worth lassethomson I'd buy the slot - not sure what you'd do to the card if you soldered directly to it

just followed your link - yip that should do it

yeah i will buy the slot, i was just wondering if the slot itself included some magic.

No magic - connect and go and enjoy .Do post your findings.
