Lowest voltage

Curious if an SX can be run at 1 - 1.5 volts if you run it at the 32 Khz clock rate or would I have to go to 3 volts?

The application may be a small AAA powered device that connects to an over the counter pocket GPS that would vibrate alert if you drop below a preset speed or arrive at a given destination.

Thanks for your thoughts,
Jason

    Jason,

2.7V is the minimum…But even so, using the internal OSC will not give you enough accuracy for serial input so you really wouldn’t be able to read the GPS unit reliably without a TTL OSC, resonator or crystal connected anyway. Out of curiosity, what powers the GPS module?

Thanks for the info, it may be a Garmin Geko 201 with two AAA's.
FYI: It will accept the NMEA-0183 data

The SX will accept the data...but unfortunately, the internal oscillator is not completely stable...so serial communications is iffy. An external resonator is required for serial transmissions.

I just finished a project which very clearly demonstrated that... :S
