Which BASIC is closest to PBasic

I'm looking into purchasing a BASIC language to compile PC programs. I've started looking at LIBERTY BASIC but I find some of the syntax to be deffrent. This got me wondering is there something closer to PBasic.....maybe REALbasic? Does anyone know if Parallax modeled PBasic after existing syntax.

An example would be LIBERTY BASIC requires addresses to be [bracketed] whereas, PBasic requires nothing at the director (GOSUB address) and a (:) at the address (address:). I like this better.

I was hoping that someone in the forum has seen a couple of diffrent BASIC languages and can point me in the right direction.

    Try GWBasic !

I used for sending serial strings out of the computer , i quite easy , but is a very simple language ,, depends on what kind of PC program you are trying to build. one that has good apresentation in Visual Basic..

I don't really know much about programs, see if that helps

I've tried lot of different basic programs like qbasic, gwbasic, quick basic, real basic, visual basic fos dos, visual basic6 for windows etc... apart from a few extra or modified commands, i didnt find them to be much different. if u know one, its pretty easy to learn the other. but the key is to stick to one and master that. i've done that with quick basic and visual basic. I agree some of them have slightly different syntaxes, but that is not a huge deal. Its kinda like how the english language spoken all over the world, but different people have different accents.

    hope that helps.

For a PC based program, you probably don't want anything as simple as PBasic. A PC has LOTS more resources to use than a BS2, and so needs a more robust language.

Personally, I'm fond of Visual Basic 6. I've used REALBasic, and it seems like the natural successor to VB, if they'd only leave it alone. They keep revising it every 6 months.

I believe PBasic was not really modeled on any existing BASIC -- well, perhaps GWBasic, but without statement numbers.
