trying to make a MIDI-controlled socket-style camera mount

hello, parallaxers. i can't imagine that my project requirements are so unique that i should have to wander off a well-trodden path... i am trying to mount a camera at my home that can be controlled via MIDI. my first issue is finding a robotic servo mechanism that a camera could be mounted to. i imagine that programming it to receive control via MIDI won't be too complicated, having seen that technique used very elegantly in other projects, but i'm having trouble finding the right part.
i can't express it in engineer-speak, so pardon my limited lingo, but imagine your wrist being able to point your fingers in roughly any possible direction with your wrist joint being at the radius of a hemisphere described by the set of all possible positions; this coupled with a full 360 degree constant rotating servo before a wall mount.
does anybody have any suggestions for products that they would use to accomplish this robotically?
thanks,
taylor
