I came across the website of the School of Computer Science, Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. Their robotics course features a BOE-Bot 'fully loaded' with sensors, including a custom sensor board. The bot has:
  • Wheel Encoders
  • Four·IR distance emitter/detector pairs·= 2 front and 2 side sensors
  • DIRRS IR range finder
  • Ping ultrasonic range finder
  • Hitachi HM55B compass
  • Light sensors
All linked to a PC by bluetooth using the Embedded Blue Transceiver.

I attach a photo from the site. Visit http://www.scs.carleton.ca/~lanthier/teaching/COMP4900A/·to get more information. Go to Course Notes Chapter 2.

The assigments and projects use a webcam robot tracking system running on a PC. Intersting course and a good source of ideas!

John

Must be nice to just write the code and not have to design build or make the hardware work. Canada is the place to be.
What? Building the bot is at *least* half of the fun :)
